General Physics has decided to keep our dream alive
They have redefined the term Main Sponsor. GP will pay for it all this year and again in 2012 and 2013.
Learning does not always come easy.
GP understands the need to put the team members first and that was the tough decision I had to make this year. Always putting the team members first. This sounds like a simple concept but when you add personal agenda's or goals it makes the decision that much tougher. Our top priority since we started racing sled dogs has always been to provide superior dog care, qualifying our athletes and diligence in training. We feel it is essential to never ask a dog to do more than it is capable while providing the highest level of care within our abilities. We are still learning and the Iditarod trail and Alaskan winters show no mercy. But we refuse to loose our focus and we have great confidence about the future.
Over the past three years we have had many proven litters and currently have a large pool of young athletes. Our intention is to only take athletes that will be capable of making the 2013 team. Basically this means dogs who are four years old or younger.
Our friend Kris Hoffman of Grizzle-T Dog and Sledworks will run our second team. Kris and I ran a 200 mile race together last year and then I handled for him in the 350 mile Race To The Sky. This qualified him for the 2011 Iditarod. He owns a large tour kennel were they instruct clients on how to run their own teams. He has been involved with sled dogs for over 10 years and he shares the same passion as us. For the past 5 years we have been giving him all of the athletes that do not make our main race team and this has allowed him to grow his tour business. He knows our dogs, he knows how we train and he is very excited about running our second team in the 2011 Iditarod.
GP has secured the financing for our main team and we are now trying to raise an additional $20,000 to pay for the second team. If you feel you can help in any way we would love to hear from you. Keep checking our website for updates. We plan to keep the website up in a more timely basis allowing all of you to follow us through Summer and Fall training.
Thanks again to General Physics Corporation and their commitment to us. Without their help we would not be able to continue.
